At ESS, our strength lies in our phenomenal team, and we’re proud to recognize those who lead by example. Each month, our partner school districts submit glowing reviews of our employees, from which we select four employees of the month. We believe in celebrating the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our team members who go above and beyond in their roles. We are thrilled to recognize our August Employees of the Month!
Charmyka Marrow
Lee County Schools, NC
Charmyka Marrow was nominated by Erika McNickle, Assistant Principal at East Lee Middle School, who wrote: “Our curriculum coach bragged about Ms. Marrow early on and recommended that we keep her in a long-term position as she sought out guidance to fully implement the curriculum. During my walk-throughs, her classroom management skills have been exceptional. Today’s observation of her reading class proved that she is a high-quality teacher!! She was well-planned and engaged students in poetry, discussing mood and tone. I continue to be impressed with her dedication to the students and our school.”
James Bryan
Anderson School District 4, SC
James Bryan was nominated by Kevin Brady, Assistant Principal at Riverside Middle School, who wrote: “Mr. Bryan served as a long-term substitute for Ms. Foxx at the beginning of the school year and consistently went above and beyond in his role. Each day, he made sure to follow the lesson plans carefully and even came in early to make copies and prepare for the day. Mr. Bryan also built strong relationships with the students, contributing positively to our school culture. At the end of his term, his dedication was further demonstrated when he requested to come in the following Monday, unpaid, to finish the lesson and ensure the students were fully prepared for their test on Tuesday. We truly appreciate his commitment to the job, the students, and our school.”
Megan Alden
Blount County Schools, TN
Megan Alden was nominated twice this month by colleagues from Montvale Elementary School, who all praised her for going above and beyond to ensure she was ready to take on a class of kindergarteners for as many days as they needed her.
Jennifer Graves, Kindergarten teacher, wrote: “Mrs. Alden is doing an amazing job taking over a kindergarten class while the teacher is on maternity leave. She is stepping into a classroom of young students who have not yet learned how school works can be difficult. Routines, procedures, and all that is involved at the beginning of a new year had not been established before the teacher left. Mrs Alden is stepping up to teach all these important aspects of school. She is staying after school, taking work home, and making things for the classroom. She asks questions from her team and is always willing to learn.”
Kristen Rohrer, Librarian, wrote: “Megan thrives in any situation she finds herself in at school. For example, she picked up a last-minute cancelation and found out she had to figure out what to do with a class of kindergarteners. She had the best attitude about it all day. Even better? She came back the next day and will be here for the rest of the week! To prepare for this, she stayed after school for over an hour with another kindergarten teacher to get an idea of what she needed to prepare for. She also took home ‘all the things’ so she could familiarize herself with what she would be teaching. Megan is doing all the things a teacher does, getting paid the substitute wage, and does it all with a smile. This is why she is EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!!!!”
Rebecca Badger
Washington County School District, UT
Rebecca Badger was nominated by MinDee Romberger, Attendance Secretary at Snow Canyon Middle School, who wrote: “I had a teacher text me at 7:30 AM because she was sick and couldn’t come in. I texted Rebecca Badger right away to see if she was available, and she got right back to me. She left the gym, ran home to get ready, and came right over to SAVE us!! We really appreciate her being available to assist us at the last minute.”
