Rachel Turner has gone above and beyond to recruit substitute teachers for Stanly County Schools. Since joining ESS as an account manager in March, Rachel has been working hard to combat the low fill rate of absences caused by the Covid pandemic.
Since Stanly County Schools partnered with ESS in November 2018, ESS has filled at least 97% of all yearly vacancies. This fill rate dipped to 78% last year largely due to the Covid pandemic. This has led Rachel to come up with creative incentives to encourage substitutes to work more. One way she has done so is by offering $25 gas gift cards to motivate substitutes to work at schools that have longer commutes.
Rachel makes sure that ESS substitutes know how appreciated they are. One of the first things she did as an ESS account manager was host a substitute appreciation event complete with raffle tickets and door prizes. She is always looking for ways to encourage and reward her substitutes. She recently brought smoothies to substitutes working at Albemarle Middle School.
Rachel also has a very hands-on approach with substitutes. She wants to make sure that each substitute is trained properly and knows that she is there to coach them along the way. Rachel doesn’t just want to hire substitutes, but to develop them to their full potential.
We could not be more proud to have Rachel Turner as a part of the ESS family! Thank you for your incredible dedication and keep up the fantastic work!
If you live in Stanly County, you can help her boost the daily fill rate this year by becoming a substitute.
