Each month, our partner school districts submit glowing reviews of our employees, from which we select four employees of the month. We’re pleased to recognize our honorees from November 2023!
Denise McElroy
Harrison School District Two, CO
Denise was nominated twice this month by colleagues at Wildflower Elementary School, who both had such wonderful things to say!
Caitlin Preuss, Counselor, wrote: “Denise goes above and beyond to help our school! She was a paraprofessional for many years and, upon retirement, has been consistently substitute teaching for us. We are so grateful to have such a fantastic and reliable substitute, especially since there is such a substitute shortage! She jumps in wherever needed and is always ready to help. We recently had a para quit without notice, and Denise jumped right in!”
Christopher Harnish, Social Worker, wrote: “Denise is always willing to step in to help in any way around the school. She has picked up numerous substitute positions throughout the year and always steps up when needed. When she is in the classrooms or within the building, she can quickly build relationships with the children and maintain appropriate classroom management skills to keep the classroom running.”
Veronica Carpenter
Choctaw-Nicoma Park School District, OK
Veronica was nominated three times this month by colleagues at Choctaw Elementary School, who all had such fantastic things to say!
Valerie Boren, Secretary, wrote: “Veronica is always willing to help. She goes above and beyond her duties with a smile on her face.”
Kathy Dickerson, Secretary, wrote: “Veronica will come in at the last minute if we need her at school. She is always nice and respectful and does a great job with students. She also does a great job at following the teacher’s plans that are left.”
Jenny Wise, Secretary, wrote: “Veronica does not just fill a space to be the adult in the room. She is so wonderful with our students and always goes above and beyond to ensure a positive classroom experience. She will do crafts with the students if it is that time of the year when hallway decorations are needed (Veterans Day Program). She has even provided incentives for students to do well. We can depend on her to handle any chaotic day thrown our way, like party days, assembly days, snow cone days, etc. We truly feel lucky to have her!”
Kevin McCants
Beaufort County School District, SC
Kevin McCants was nominated by Liz Rivera, Principal at Joseph S. Shanklin Elementary School, who wrote: “Mr. McCants joined us this year as a building substitute. He is very reliable, has excellent communication with staff, and the students really enjoyed it when he was a substitute in the music classroom. Every time I walked by that classroom, the students were singing, learning, and engaged. Now that we have filled the music position, he continues to support our school with whatever assistance we need for the day!”
Sariah Clair
Alpine School District, UT
Sariah Clair was nominated by Nicole Parker, Administration Secretary at Riverview Elementary, who wrote: “Sariah took a long-term position for us at the beginning of the school year in a classroom with several difficult behavior situations and handled it like a pro. She came an hour early every day to ensure she would be ready. It isn’t easy to be a long-term substitute from the start of the school year, but she established routines and developed relationships with her students. She worked professionally with the administration and office staff to handle any difficulties. Everyone on her grade level team and in the office enjoyed working with her and had nothing but wonderful things to say about her. She has continued to substitute for us in other classes now that the long-term job is complete, and we appreciate her continuing to help us out at Riverview in other capacities. We highly recommend that Sariah be recognized for her exemplary service!”
