Complete Your Online Application
Click the Apply button below to start our user-friendly online application. After you apply, an ESS team member will be assigned to you to help you through the hiring process. Substitute candidates must complete their application before attending the in-person training.
Schedule your Background Check
Completing a background check is a crucial step in becoming a substitute in Pasco County, Florida, but the process is simple. Applicants must visit Fieldprint to schedule their background check and add FPPascoVendor as the vendor code. After the process is completed online, visit a local Fieldprint office. Don’t forget to bring two forms of identification. For more detailed instructions, click the FAQs below.
Attend an Orientation and a Training
During the orientation and training sessions, you’ll learn everything you need to know about becoming an ESS substitute in Pasco County Schools. Also, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with ESS employees, ask questions, learn about the company, and hear about all the amazing perks available to you. Frequently Asked Questions
In order to work as a substitute in Pasco County Schools and the state of Florida, you need to meet certain requirements. The ESS team will support you throughout the hiring process and will reimburse the cost of background clearances up to $125.
Education for Substitutes
- Substitute Teachers: High school diploma or GED
- Instructional Assistants: High school diploma or GED
- Non-Instructional Assistants: High school diploma or GED
- Before & After School Aide: High school diploma or GED
- Food Service Employee: High school diploma or GED
Clearances for Substitutes
- Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE)
- Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) criminal history check, Level 2
Substitutes can start working within 3-6 weeks, but the timeframe can be shorter or longer depending on obtaining your Florida clearances. To expedite the process, gather the documents you may already have, such as transcripts. If you have any issues during the application process, contact the ESS-Pasco County team.
- Visit Fieldprint online to schedule your background check.
- Enter your email address under “New Users/Sign Up and click the “Sign Up” button.
- Follow the instructions for creating a Password and Security Question, and then click “Sign Up and Continue."
- Click on the “Schedule an Appointment” button.
- Enter FPPascoVendor to the Fieldprint Code.
- When filling out the form, please use ESS as your employer and 7227 Land O Lakes Blvd, Land O Lakes, FL 34638, as the employer address. Do not use the apostrophe in the address for Land O'Lakes.
- Enter your contact and demographic information required by the FBI and schedule an appointment at your chosen location.
- Be prepared to pay online using a credit or debit card. The cost is $89.58. If you do not have a credit or debit card, you can use a Visa/Amex/MC gift card available for purchase from your local grocery store or pharmacy.
- At the end of the process, print the Confirmation Page. Take this page along with two forms of identification with you to your appointment..

- When complete, please email your name and the date that you completed the fingerprints to Brittany Sisk at BSisk@ESS.com.

Substitute employees are paid every Friday and can choose to receive their payment via direct deposit or our free debit card program.
