ESS has partnered with the Santa Rosa County District Schools to manage its substitute program and we’re hiring.

We can’t wait for you to join the ESS family! We encourage all current Santa Rosa County District Schools’ substitutes to continue their important services to the District by becoming an employee of ESS. Becoming a substitute teacher for ESS is a simple process with three easy steps outlined below. All three steps must be completed.


Step 1: Sign Up and Attend a Virtual Onboarding Meeting

At this meeting, you’ll learn everything you need to know about transitioning to ESS. You’ll have the opportunity to meet with ESS employees, ask questions, learn about the company, and hear about all the amazing perks. 

To make the transition process as easy as possible, background checks will not need to be redone as long as they are not expired. The ESS team will go over the credentialing process during this virtual onboarding meeting.

Click the Virtual Onboarding Meeting – Register button below to sign up for a meeting. After this virtual meeting, you will also need to attend an in-person session for Step 3: In-Person I-9 Processing & Photo ID Session.

Step 2: Apply Online and Complete Your Application

Click here to apply through our user-friendly online application. For all substitutes with paperwork on file with the District, you are not required to upload your background checks, certificates, proof of education, or resume. Please make sure your application is complete and your I-9 is filled out before you attend your In-Person I-9 Processing & Photo ID Session. 


Step 3: Sign Up and Attend an In-Person I-9 Processing & Photo ID Session

At this in-person session, you will need to provide your proper forms of ID for I-9 verification and have your photo taken for your ESS badge. Please make sure you bring proper forms of ID for verification at this I-9 processing session.  Click here for a list of the proper forms of ID for I-9 verification. Also, be sure you’ve completed your digital I-9 form during your application process prior to attending this meeting.

Pay Rates
Substitute employees will receive an increase in pay under the ESS program. Pay rates vary based on education level, licensure status, and the assignment that you accept. For more details, click the
